Golden

Golden was named by Major A.B. Rogers, who set up a base camp in this area for his railway survey crew in 1882. In an attempt to out-do the “Silver City” camp which was located in the east, Rogers named his favourite town site “Golden City.” This site was maintained until 1886, when “city”, was dropped. The town has been called “Golden” ever since.
